Having worked in the agency for years, Atika decided it was time for her to leave that demandingly high pressure working environment behind her and venture into the challenging world of entrepreneurship. As a first step, she joined her husband at Laris Worldwide (M) Sdn Bhd in 2003. Presently, she is the Managing Director of the company. Founded in 1997, Laris Worldwide (M) Sdn Bhd is a reputable and wholly owned Bumiputra marketing and communications agency specializing in business-to-consumer campaigns. Laris’s services include advertising design, creative advertising concept, corporate reports, collateral development and design, publishing/printing, website development/hosting and event management. Laris has been registered with the Ministry of Finance, Malaysia since 1997 allowing it to be a preferred and recommended service provider to the Government of Malaysia and its agencies. Atika who is a young mother of three is also known beyond her business reputation. She is an excellent cook, so much that it caught the attention of the organisers of “Skills Training Program” funded by the STAR Foundation. With the sponsorship of NAWEM, Atika was able to have a course called “Traditional Cooking” aimed to train financially challenged single mothers in cooking so that they will have a better chance of improving their financial status. It is her greatest desire to assist small business women in building their “brand” so that they can propel themselves towards business success and beyond. She gives talks regularly at women’s associations function/trainings about the importance of branding and packaging development. When she has free time, she prefers to keep herself busy by helping those in need. Atika regularly volunteers at the Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim/Miskin Klang (PEYAKIN). She is a council member of the Society for the Severely Mentally Handicapped Selangor & Federal Territory (SSMH). On the business side, Atika is also in the council of Institute of Marketing Malaysia (IMM). |
