The National Symposium of Malaysian Women Entrepreneurs was organised by PENIAGAWATI at Hyatt Saujana Hotel where one of the objectives was to create a National Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Malaysia (NAWEM ) and to appoint the President of PENIAGAWATI as the Chairman of the Pro-tem Committee.

May 1993

NAWEM was officially registered.

15th June 1993

First Official Pro-tem Committee Meeting was held at office of Trevcheq Travel Sdn. Bhd.

29th January 1994

First NAWEM AGM where YB Dato’ Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil was appointed as the Inaugural President.

23rd June 1994

First courtesy call by NAWEM Committee to Office of Patron YB Dato’ Seri Rafidah Aziz, Minister of International Trade & Industry.

5th September 1994

Official launch of NAWEM & Installation of 1st Committee Members By Patron YB Dato’ Seri Rafidah Aziz at Istana Hotel.

15th July 1995

Started Operation at Lot 8, Rumah Puspanita – NAWEM ‘s new Headquarters.

Official launch of NAWEM’s office and Showcase / Exhibition of Members’ Businesses officiated by YB Dato’ Seri Rafidah Aziz.

Signing of MOU between NAWEM & HAWA on ICT Training Grant of RM100,000.00.

NAWEM awarded a grant for RM50,310.00 by the Ministry of Women and Family Development.

7th March 2003

NAWEM was officially appointed by FEM as the Project Manager for the Micro Credit Scheme where RM300 Million was awarded by MOF to benefit Micro Businesses.

23rd April 2003

First briefing on the Micro Credit Scheme held at the Headquarters of Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) conducted by FEM and BSN to all NGOs. MOU Signing Ceremony held at Putrajaya between FEM and BSN and the Launch of Micro Credit Scheme on 3rd June 2003.

Sarojini Ruth Rajahser is the Managing Director of Data-Tech Sdn Bhd, a company providing outsourcing services for transferring data into input media such as paper document, microfilm and microfiche. A true entrepreneur at heart, Sarojini’s success story began with a humble start as a data entry operator. She quickly moved up the ranks to supervisor and her efforts paid-off when she bought over the company where she start her career.
