SUNWAY JOB PLACEMENT PROGRAMME :HOPE FOR SINGLE MOTHERS

For the Sunway Group, Corporate Responsibility (CR) is both a fundamental obligation, and a fulltime commitment - and The Group accords the same goals and accountabilities to this as our other businesses.

The Sunway Group has taken this corporate philosophy a step further by infusing its current Job Placement programme for the single mothers under NAWEM. This initiative aims to provide job training skills to four single mothers on a yearly basis.

The training encompass six months of housekeeping skills at Sunway’s award winning hotel, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa for two single mothers. The other two single mothers will undergo a three month intensive course on pastry and baking at Sunway University College followed by another three months of practical training at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa.

Upon completion of the six months job training, the four single mothers will be presented with Certificates of Accomplishment. These ladies also stand a chance to obtain jobs at any of the Sunway Group’s business units.

The Sunway Group’s CR revolve around three pillars : Education, Healthcare and Exterior Environment. Under the Education module, the Group is actively working on the Job Placement programme for Special students of SMK Bandar Sunway. The Group takes a holistic approach in Education and creates platforms for the underprivileged to stand on their own feet.

Sarojini Ruth Rajahser is the Managing Director of Data-Tech Sdn Bhd, a company providing outsourcing services for transferring data into input media such as paper document, microfilm and microfiche. A true entrepreneur at heart, Sarojini’s success story began with a humble start as a data entry operator. She quickly moved up the ranks to supervisor and her efforts paid-off when she bought over the company where she start her career.
